What it covers

A hazardous goods vehicle must comply with a stricter PUC regime under the CMVR and the Central / State Pollution Control Boards: PUC renewed every 3 months (vs 6 months for ordinary commercial vehicles) in several states; a diesel hazardous vehicle beyond 10 years is barred in NCR and several other metros (NGT orders); a petrol vehicle beyond 15 years similarly. For LPG tankers and chemical bulkers, periodic hydro-testing of the tank (every 5 years) and visual inspection annually.

Verdict

Verify (i) PUC validity on DOL and the renewal interval of the issuing state, (ii) vehicle age vs the applicable diesel/petrol cut-off (NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata — varies), (iii) for tankers, the last hydro-test and annual visual-inspection certificate (PESO Form XIV). An expired hydro-test on a leaking tanker claim is almost always a cause-contributing factor — insurer may reduce or deny on contributory negligence.

पक्का करें — (i) DOL पर PUC validity और जारी-करने वाले राज्य का renewal interval, (ii) गाड़ी की उम्र vs लागू diesel/petrol cut-off (NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata — अलग-अलग), (iii) tankers के लिए last hydro-test और सालाना visual-inspection certificate (PESO Form XIV)।
